GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT GED:
What is GED?
The General Educational Development Test, or the GED test, is a series of 4 subject tests a person can take to demonstrate their high school academic knowledge. Earning a GED diploma is equivalent to a U.S. high school diploma. In Minnesota, individuals who do not have a high school diploma may be able to earn a state of Minnesota GED Diploma by passing the GED test. More information here.
Do I need a GED?
GED is for students who do not have a high school diploma from their country or from the United States.
Who is eligible to take the GED test?
Anyone 19 or older may test in Minnesota with appropriate ID. Students who are 17 and 18 years old may test after obtaining an age waiver from the Minnesota Department of Education. View age waiver instructions and application form. Test takers must not be enrolled in a K-12 program at the time of testing and may not already possess a high school diploma; there are some rare exceptions.

What is the grading system for the GED test? Is it pass/fail?
On each test, you receive a score between 100 and 200. A score of 145 is considered passing. If you score below 145, it's considered a failed attempt and you must re-take the test.
What are the requirements to receive the GED diploma?

How much does the GED test cost?
Each GED test costs $30 for a total of $120. While funding lasts, GED testers in Minnesota have the possibility of getting a discount on each subject test. Ask your coordinator about this possibility!

CLUES' GED classes are around 14 weeks. Topics include math, science, social studies and English/grammar/writing. One subject is the focus of each term.
How many hours do students study outside of class?
We recommend students study quite a bit outside of class since we don't cover everything in class. We offer free accounts to students for an online GED study website through Edmentum.
